Who's your realy friends....
Hi, I'm writing this just to let you know that ,the last two years, I had one of complications from hemodialysis, high Parathyroid Hormone, or hyperparathyroidsm. It is a condition where my calcium in my bones are absorbed out making my bones and joints aching, and the final moment before the parathyroid were taken out, I'm barely can walked, it was too pain to steps on the floor. Climbing stairs in my house make me felt like climbing a never ending mountain, and what that have to do with this topics? Well I learn a lesson, in fact a very, very valuable lesson, your family is the best and only friends in the world. When I cannot walk I refused to went to hemodialysis. My mom, I think is the reason I'm still alive this days. She make me to go to h.d , she is the one pushing my wheelchair to dialysis center. She retired early as a teacher just to take care of me. My dad work his heart out to find money to put food on our table, my brothers and sisters, they offer me their kidneys, and what kind of brother I'll be to see them suffer to give me their kidneys, so I refused. They (brothers/sisters) play big roles in helping my mom and dad around the house. Where all my friends? 10 years of suffering from kidney failure and 2 years I cannot walk, only 2 friends of mine came to visits me in my most needed time. They are Anwar and Nizam. Anwar also offer me his kidney, but no, being my friends is all I need. So what is the moral of this story, your family is the only one that will never let you down, and from mllions of friends you have , only a few will share the burdens and your problems. So, be wise when choosing friends and never forget your family...

What is hemodialysis?
Hi, you may be asking yourself, what is hemodialysis(h.d)? Hemo is blood, dialysis is a word originated from Greeks ,meaning to past through. So as a simple explanation h.d is to make blood run through an artificial kidney for blood to be processed. The artificial kidney is known as extracorporeal hemodialyzer (extracorporeal means outside the body), a plastic tubing with membrane filter inside it. For me the speed/amount of blood rushed out of my body and went back inside are 300ml/second. The blood were drawn in and out using a couple of needles, each for in and out. The bloods are actually circulated back inside my body.Inside the hemodialyzer a chemical reaction occurred, water and waist (similarly to urine) are absorbed out and some minerals need by body are absorbed to the blood. For me each session of h.d are 4 hours, some peoples need more but the standard are usually 4 hours. So, I hope this answered your questions about h.d.
Cheers,
Mi

Tips for renal failure patients: Tips no.2 Your Hemodialysis Meals.
Hi all, this is another great tip for hemodialysis (h.d) patients that works great for me. A day before you go for h.d, on the night make sure you don't have heavy meals that's if your h.d time is on the next morning. You can eat heavy (but not too heavy) breakfast while on h.d. If your h.d time is on the noon, take a heavy meals on breakfast and change your launch to a tea time snacks(that means don't eat heavy launch, a couple of crackers and a cup of drinks). I don't want to eat a really heavy meals on my h.d time, it will make me hypotension (my blood pressure will drop). My h.d time is in the morning, so I take a half plate of rice(usually fried rice) and a glass of juice( about 200ml) during my h.d. It works well for me, let me know if you have tried it.
Cheers,
Mi

13th March 2008; World Kidney Day

Hi all, I like to let you know that on the 13th of March every year is declared as "World Kidney Day" by World Kidney. Why a World Kidney Day? It's for promoting an early detection and prevention of the kidney disease. If detected early , Chronic Kidney Dysfunctions can be treated, thereby reducing other complications. So why don't you take your moment that day or as soon as you can to visit your physicians and have a medical check up.

Tips for renal failure patients: Tips no.1 How to control your water intake?
Hi all, for a renal failure patient (r.f.p)drinking water is like the most luxurious thing in the world. Why? because we can only take so little water so that it will not accumulated in our body. Most r.f.p, cannot pee, like me :) because our kidneys have lost the ability (not 100%) to process our blood. So we have to limit our fluids intake quantities. For me the suggestion limit by doctors are 750ml a day ( yeah, you better believe it). So to help me reduce my thirsty;
- I hold up an ice cube in my mouth and spit out the water, don't hold it up for too long or you whole mouth will become numb :)
- Do not consumed too much salty food eg. salted fish, soy sauce ,salt etc
- Do not walk or exercise in too hot weather condition, it will kill you :)
- Do not drink hot drinks so much, if you are so thirsty drink cold water.
- Reduce the size of your glass/mugs/cups/ choose a small one.
- Sip your drinks a little bit at one time, you can drink 20 ml for five times instead of 100ml at one time.
- Do not drinks sweetened drinks.

History of My Renal Disfunction.
Hi, like the title says, I'm telling you how my kidney went 'kaput'. I was fifteen, yeah you're read it right fifteen when my kidney when 'kaput'. It was caused by a severe infection of my tonsil. My family and I went to Langkawi for holiday. One day I had high fever , so hot that I all the thing I saw that day was like a dream. Peoples looks so tiny, they sounds tiny, my speech become uncontrollable. I threw out like hell and I felt like my guts coming out too. Every time foods get passed my throat, they came out back as fast as they could. I've lost weight, more than 20 kilos. I was admitted to I.C.U for 4 days unconscious due to blood toxicity, high potassiums, albumin, sodium, and all sort of toxins. All this happened on December 1997, yeah a hell year for me if you asked. Now I'm on my hemodialysis routine of three times a week, four hours a session sitting on a couch.
